Workshop Summary
Please join us on June 4, 2019 when one-n-ten presents an overview of basic LGBT definitions and statistics. Following we will delve into best practices for creating safe spaces. Afterwards, we will apply the best practices to case studies so that the participants can walk away with tangible action items for creating safe spaces for LGBT folks. We will end the program with a panel of LGBT community members sharing their stories.
Objectives
- Define the LGBT acronym
- Define sexuality, gender identity, and gender expression.
- Create an action item on how to make workplaces safe places for LGBT folks.
- Listen and learn about the stories of out LGBT community members.
Speakers
Wallace Hudson (he/him)
Wallace Hudson received his Master of Arts degree in Women and Gender studies from ASU in 2017 and has been leading LGBT competency trainings throughout the Valley for two and a half years. Today, Wallace is the training program specialist with one•n•ten, where he organizes trainings and leads programs for LGBTQ+ youth.
Gina Read (she/her)
Gina Read is one of the founding members of one•n•ten, and has been involved with one•n•ten in a variety of ways over the years. Currently, she serves as the program manager where she oversees the programs at the downtown Youth Center.
